Accurate diagnosis of sleep apnea and related disorders typically requires a sleep study.
These are generally conducted in specialist sleep laboratories, where trained professionals monitor sleep patterns, breathing, heart rate, and oxygen levels throughout the night in a controlled clinical setting.
While The Dental Sleep Centre does not perform or diagnose sleep disorders, we can refer patients to appropriate sleep clinics for in-lab studies when a formal diagnosis is needed.
As an initial screening aid, we also offer home sleep testing. This convenient option involves using a portable device at home to record basic sleep data, which may help identify potential signs of sleep-disordered breathing. However, it is important to note that home sleep tests do not replace a full diagnostic study and are not used for formal diagnosis.
We are committed to helping patients understand their options and guiding them toward appropriate care in collaboration with their healthcare providers.
